Marking the Heads Neutral Position
Start by laying each head face down on a flat surface, hosel pointing away from you. With a sharpie or paint, place a mark (line) on the surface of the hosel at 12:00. This Neutral Position mark is intended to align with the Neutral Flex Point Mark on the Neutralized shaft at assembly. Offsets should be compensated for.

Shaft Specs and Tip Triming Instructions:

Apply Permanent Neutralization Bands:
After club assembly, apply the shaft Neutralization Band at the hosel/ferrule of the shaft directly over the original Neutralization Mark. When applying the label, place the center of the sticker directly over the original mark. If you are creating a regular set of clubs, fold the the right side of the sticker containing the "S" first, then fold the left side over so that the "R" will now overlap and cover the "S". Designating the shaft as a "R"egular flex.

Original Neutralization mark can be removed at cleanup. Neutralization bands are chrome to match steel shafts.

Speak Neutralization?
Here is a list of terms that we think will help you in better understanding the AccuMade Neutralization Method.
The Shaft – “Neutral Bend Position” – This is the point that the shaft rotates to naturally, when it is deflected as if being loaded and unloaded during a golfer’s swing. However, when the shaft is deflected, it may seek several neutral bend positions. This generally only occurs in some graphite shafts with the potential of 2 or more NBP’s. Accumade believes these shafts should be rejected. Term originated in mid 1970's by Ko Wantanabe while selling his "Spinfinder" tool.
The Shaft - “Neutral Flex Point” – This is the point of least resistance that a shaft will naturally seek when it has been bent or deflected just like in the Loading and unloading of the shaft in a golfer’s swing.
The Shaft - “Neutral Flex Point Mark” - Once the Neutral Bend Position is located on the shaft a 1mm wide 8” long line is marked on the shaft that identifies a point called the “Neutral Flex Point ”
The Shaft - “Flex Weight” and or “Flex Weight Matching” – AccuMade’s new process of measuring the relative flex of a shaft when it is being deflected at its Neutral Flex Point. Each shaft has it’s own individual Flex Weight that Flex Weight is identified in grams, a Label is printed and placed on the shaft, the shafts are sorted and matched into sets by their “flex weight” reading and bundled into sets.
The Shaft – “Flex Variation” The difference in load, measured in grams as the shaft is deflected and rotated 360 degrees. For testing a single shaft’s symmetry. Often mis-referenced as "strong" and "weak" spines.
The Club Head - “Neutral Position Mark” - This is the mark that is placed on the club heads hosel in a predetermined location for the purpose of aligning this Mark and the Shaft “Neutral Flex Point Mark” together. Manufacturing Diagram for determining the exact placement of the A mark in production. Can be easily added to any club head in production, no extra charge in mold/cast creation cost.
The Club Head – “Club Head Indexing Scale and Tool” - This tool is used to find and locate where to put the club heads “Neutral Position Mark”. By using the Club Head Indexing Scale AccuMade is able to tell if the head is going to be and will be Marked in the correct location for production of the club heads.

Proper Set Assembly
We believe that you have to follow these steps to achieve a Perfectly Matched set of golf clubs for your customer, because every customer has his or her own specific set of clubs.

1. Neutralized Set of Shafts
2. Marking the Heads Neutral Position * (if not pre-marked)
3. Correct Length & Stepping (trimming correctly)
4. Head Gram Weighting
5. Checking the Hosel Depths (adjusting if needed)
6. Grip Gram Weighting
